The name Kalkberg originated from 'Kalk,' meaning the limestone in the soil, and 'Berg,' meaning the mountain. The grapes come from several parcels and vineyard sites above St. Pauls at the foot of the Gantkofel. They grow on mineral-rich dolomite and clay soils.
Kalkberg
Kalkberg
The Kalkberg present itself in a hellen bright straw yellow with some light green reflections in the glass. The nose is characterized by fresh aromas, with notes of apple and pear, as well as mountain herbs and lemon zest. A smoky and stony component is also present. On the palate the Pinot Blanc combines mediterranean and alpine influences. Smooth and silky, with a full body and a fresh, crisp finish.
